Let’s be honest you would have to have been living on another plant in the last 2 weeks not to have been swept up with the emotions surrounding team GB and their outstanding performance.
I for one loved watching as we went about the business of winning our gold medals in a professional manor and the fact that some countries started taking pot shots at us just proved that we really were exceeding others expectations - no mine.
In fact if you looked at the news paper headlines today for a change the vast majority of them were positive! Wow you mean all we had to do was to remember that we ARE actually a Great country with amazing people in it who care passionately about representing it? Yep seems that way.
And too all those do good teachers who say it's not the winning but the taking part that counts in sport just look at how the country is embracing the Gold medal winners and look back at the faces of disappointment of those who were still world beaters but come in second or third.
Ask them and they'll tell you in sport just like in business winning is EVERYTHING.
I hope the country really get behind 2012 and starts to focus on the massive opportunities it will offer our businesses and people from many different communities across the South East. We have much to celebrate and much to look forward to.
I wish all those involved in Team GB, the support people the coaches and the athletes every success with their training over the next 4 years. The Gold medal is so special because it takes so much effort and work to achieve it - after all.....if it was easy everybody would do it and it would loose it's desirability.
Let’s make 2012 our games and show the world that London really is the best place to live and work.
