So that’s it then, Lord Sugar has made his decision - the winner of The Young Apprentice 2011 is 16 year old Zara Brownless!
I must say - I wanted to give her the prize after the first episode. Right from the start her confidence and poise made her stand out of the crowd, and as Sir Alan kept saying throughout the series - she is extremely articulate with presentation skills any of us would be proud to have represent our Business.
For me, it was those presentation skills that finally got her over the finishing line ahead, as it does so often in Sales and Business.
The final task was to design an on-line game and make a viral video to market it. To be honest, I thought that James’s game “Crazy Cabinet” was far superior to Zara’s creation “Piggy Panic”. But what James failed to do was really consider who he was selling his idea too.
The audience was made up of the great and good of the gaming world. People who make their living getting us all hooked on the latest Big Thing. What Zara did brilliantly was to paint a very vivid picture of all the multiple streams of income that could spin off from this one game concept. She talked about different levels of the game people could buy, toys, cartoons, books - you name it. In other words - she talked to them in their language... Their Bottom Line. As Paul would say “WITFM” What’s In It For Me? And they lapped it up. In every presentation or pitch that you do, don’t get so excited by your product or service that you forget to keep telling your prospects What’s In It For Them!
So Congratulations Zara from the Team at The Business Wealth Club and remember... You Get Paid on what you Get Done!
